From a learning project to a community cornerstone
The Beginning
Early 2000s
UnionHigh.com started as my first domain and programming project. Teaching myself ASP and Microsoft Access, I built our school's first digital alumni directory with help from a generous fellow alumnus who provided free Windows hosting.
The Rebuild
Mid 2000s
When our original host closed shop, I completely rebuilt the site using PHP and MySQL. The switch to Linux hosting made it more sustainable, and the site served our growing alumni community for years.
The Pause
2010s
As Facebook became the dominant social platform, maintaining a separate alumni site seemed redundant. UnionHigh.com went into hibernation while our community connected through social media.
The Renaissance
2025
With AI-assisted development making it easier than ever to build robust applications, UnionHigh.com is reborn with Django, PostgreSQL, and modern features designed specifically for our alumni community.
